Startup Technology Partner

Get your business technology in place without a large upfront bill.

Starting a business comes with enough to figure out. I help founders get their website, business email, forms, and other essential technology working together so they can focus on building their business. Depending on your needs and the scope, I may also be able to build web applications that help you run your business.

For projects that are a good fit, I can offer this with no or low upfront service fees in exchange for an agreed ownership stake or a share of future revenue or profit.

Prefer to pay upfront? I also offer fixed-fee projects, with simple one-page websites starting at $250.

Scope, compensation, and any third-party expenses are agreed before work starts.

The foundations

What I can help set up

Each project has an agreed scope. These are services to discuss, rather than a package that automatically includes everything.

Business website

A professional, mobile-friendly website introducing your business and its services.

Web applications and business tools

Depending on scope, I may be able to build a web application for tasks such as managing requests, tracking work, or organizing information. We’ll discuss what it needs to do and whether I’m a good fit to build it.

Contact and inquiry forms

A straightforward way for prospective customers to get in touch.

Email marketing signups

Connect website signups to an appropriate email marketing platform.

Business email and collaboration

Set up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, including domain connections, mailboxes, and agreed collaboration tools.

Domains and hosting

Help select and configure your website address, hosting, and related settings.

Basic business integrations

Connect agreed tools for scheduling, lead collection, notifications, and simple workflows.

Documentation and handoff

Explain what was set up and how to manage it.

A practical starting point

Who this is for

  • New small businesses establishing their online presence.
  • Service businesses that need their basic technology organized.
  • Early-stage founders who want to preserve cash.
  • Product startups that need a business website, operating tools, or a web application with an agreed scope.

This offering does not necessarily include engineering your startup’s software product. Depending on your needs and the scope, I may be able to build a web application that does useful work for your business, beyond a site that introduces it. Any software-product work would need to be discussed and explicitly included in the agreed scope.

Agreed individually

How compensation can work

For suitable projects, a smaller upfront bill can mean an agreed ownership stake or a share of future revenue or profit. You can also choose an upfront fixed fee. We’ll agree on the scope and payment terms before work starts.

Ownership

A negotiated equity stake, potentially ranging from 1–10%, depending on scope, complexity, business stage, and circumstances. This range is a discussion point, not a fixed package.

Revenue or profit participation

An agreed share of future revenue or clearly defined profit, without company ownership.

Other options can include capped participation, a deferred fixed fee, or a smaller upfront payment combined with future compensation.

Where appropriate, the agreement can include a predefined buyout option so you have a clear way to end the specified future compensation arrangement.

Only need something small?

Simple one-page websites start at $250.

If you just need a straightforward website to introduce your business and help people get in touch, a small, clearly defined project with an upfront fixed fee may be all you need.

Here’s what’s included:

  • One mobile-friendly page introducing your business and its services.
  • Your supplied text and images.
  • A basic contact form.
  • One round of revisions.

Domain registration, hosting, and paid third-party services are separate. Additional pages, custom functionality, integrations, and automation are quoted individually.

Equity and revenue-sharing arrangements remain available for suitable projects.

Service fees & outside expenses

What might still cost money?

My service fees are separate from third-party expenses. I use free and low-cost tools where they make sense. Website hosting can remain completely free as regular traffic grows, provided the site stays within the selected providers’ free plans. Features and usage—not just visitor numbers—determine when paid services may be needed.

Likely expenses to plan for include:

  • Purchasing and renewing a custom domain.
  • Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 subscriptions.
  • Paid email marketing features or higher sending volumes.
  • Hosting, storage, form processing, or integrations beyond free allowances.
  • Other paid tools selected for your business.

A free provider-issued website address may be an option if you don’t need a custom domain. Business email subscriptions are separate from free website hosting.

We’ll discuss expected third-party costs before setup. No paid services will be added without your approval.

From conversation to handoff

How the process works

  1. Discuss your business

Identify what you need and whether the arrangement is a good fit.

  2. Agree on scope and compensation

Put the deliverables, expenses, responsibilities, and proposed compensation in writing before work starts.

  3. Build and review

I set up the agreed technology and we review it together.

  4. Finalize and launch

Complete the required compensation paperwork and launch under the agreed terms.

  5. Handoff and next steps

I provide documentation and agreed access. Ongoing support or additional work requires a separate agreement.

I manage the setup process and may retain administrative control of setup environments until the required agreements are complete. Account ownership, access, and handoff conditions are documented in advance.

Administrative access and legal ownership are separate. Handoff does not cancel agreed compensation.

A few common questions

Before you get in touch

Is this really free upfront?

For suitable success-based projects, I may offer no or low upfront service fees in exchange for an agreed ownership stake or future-payment arrangement. If you prefer, you can choose an upfront fixed-fee project instead. Simple one-page websites start at $250. Third-party expenses are separate in either case.

Do I have to give up ownership?

No. You can choose an upfront fixed fee without equity or revenue sharing. Revenue or profit participation, a deferred fixed fee, and other arrangements can also be discussed without company ownership. We’ll agree on an arrangement that works for both of us.

Can you build a web application or my startup’s product?

Possibly, depending on the scope and what you need. I may be able to build web applications that help run your business, such as tools for managing requests, tracking work, or organizing information. This offering does not necessarily include engineering your startup’s software product. Tell me what you have in mind so we can discuss whether I’m a good fit and what could be included in the written scope.

Who pays for domains and subscriptions?

You cover agreed third-party expenses for your business. We’ll discuss expected costs before setup, and I won’t add paid services without your approval. Free options may fit some needs.

What happens after launch?

I provide documentation and agreed access under the handoff terms documented in advance. Ongoing support or additional work requires a separate agreement. Any agreed future compensation continues under its terms.

Can we agree on a buyout?

Where appropriate, a predefined buyout option can be included for the specified future compensation arrangement. Availability and terms are discussed individually before work starts.
